I took over Asgard easily enough. No bloodshed.

They let me do whatever I wanted.

You ruled Asgard? I never tried, though I did cause a few shake-ups and coups.

For five years, yes.

I put Odin in an old folk's home on Earth and ruled as him.

Ah, that's perfect! Everyone on Midgard would think him insane, with the bonus irony of making him deal with the punishment he gave Thor so long ago.

[He takes back what he said about Odin being his owner, this is good mischief.]

Leah and I once fooled him into thinking we were Freyja, you know. It was a poor disguise, but apparently he was that desperate to return to their marital bed and consummate things or whatever.

He was never like that . . . I don't think.

[Loki shrugs.]

It was useful, we needed him to absorb Surtur's power and he was unlikely to come out of banishment simply to help solve a problem I caused.

No, he was always unwilling to solve problems. Even his own.

Seems that's true in every universe.

It must've been exhausting pretending to be Father for five years, mischief aside.

It was tiresome from time to time. Dreary too. Being king, conquering, ruling . . . They all lost their lustre.

I much prefer being Loki. And doing what I feel like.

As do I. It's what makes us Loki.

... when you arrived here, after your death, did you ever think of being someone else? Not Odin, but someone new entirely.

No.

As . . . difficult as some things have been and still are, I would still choose to be Loki. I fought to be Loki. I bled for it.

And I'm not ashamed.

I feel the same. Theoretically, it'd be easier, wouldn't it? That's where the appeal is.

And yet... I find we're not very good at being anyone else. Not truly.

No.

[ he sips his milkshake. ]

But why should we have to be? A little selfishness can be beneficial. Perhaps that's why we're here.

Why humans came up with us, you mean?

[dothelokimotion]

[ he shrugs. ]

Why tricksters exist to begin with. It's hardly just a human invention.

[thecoolerloki]

Perhaps, but we reflect humans specifically, not the Kree or anyone else.

[dothelokimotion]

Is that the lore of Asgard?

Not quite. In my memory, we existed long before humanity did. Even when I was a boy, I was told my people had fought against Asgard for generations, failing time and time again.

Whether or not all that truly happened doesn't necessarily matter, though.

I suppose it's hard to separate myth from truth.

Still. Being a reflection of humanity. I've never thought of it that way. Our interactions with humans have always been so limited.

I didn't think of it that way until I started writing, TBH. When I realized I could shift stories in a way that reflected myself, I thought... someone else must have done the same.

Perhaps that's a natural transition. From mischief to story. I doubt I can do it though.

To some degree, though I'm not simply hosting my stories. I enjoy all stories.

Seems I'm repeating myself, but I feel similarly. I've actually only ever written one story total.
