Not quite. In my memory, we existed long before humanity did. Even when I was a boy, I was told my people had fought against Asgard for generations, failing time and time again.
Whether or not all that truly happened doesn't necessarily matter, though.
I didn't think of it that way until I started writing, TBH. When I realized I could shift stories in a way that reflected myself, I thought... someone else must have done the same.
