[He's going to turn away a little bit, awkward.]

...you were the one who convinced me that connection was... worthwhile.

You said that its complexity could be rewarding. And you wanted that for me.

[ no one has ever chosen him. for anything. loki stares at sephiroth, overwhelmed. he seems to reach for his face though he nearly stops half-way, unsure, but tries again. ]

[Sephiroth lets him, this time. Loki may not remember from before, but they've started to build something again here. It's not nothing.

And... he wants it, anyway.]

I stand by it.

[ his thumb brushes over the curve of sephiroth's cheek as loki observes him quietly. he can see it clearly. it's not simply to recapture what they had once or to relive it, but to rediscover and still make anew. and still want loki as he is.

maybe he was right all along. that the one in his past and the loki of now are the same. and perhaps loki simply needed to believe in himself more. he could certainly stand to try.

because he's . . . been chosen.

gently, loki presses a kiss to the corner of sephiroth's lips before pulling back. ]

[Sephiroth closes his eyes for a moment. He missed that. He shouldn't; he went so long without that it shouldn't make any difference now. But it still feels... nice.]

[ loki smiles at him, a little shy. he clears his throat. ]

Maybe it's worth looking at my wound with magic. I . . . didn't want to go back to my apartment and make Thor worry. But I was being foolish.

Perhaps you can help me?

You haven't been home?

[Isn't that the ideal place to recuperate?]

...I have not had much success with healing, but I can attempt it.

I used my illusions.

[ he wants to make sure everything with him and thor is perfect. no conflict, no pain. just a place where they can live without breaking down. ]

Sephiroth gently lays a hand over where Loki indicated the wound was. Touch shouldn't be necessary, but it might help him focus.]

It would . . . bring up bad memories. For both of us. He'd feel responsible. I don't want him to feel awful. I just want us to . . . simply be.

[ he allows the touch without fanfare, curious to see how sephiroth's magic will manifest. ]

...would he have attempted to kill me?

[He's not concerned by the notion, just curious.

Nothing seems to be happening yet, in terms of magic. It was anger that helped him harness his black magic, but that probably won't help him here.]

[ he frowns before shaking his head. ]

Not over that and not after an explanation.

Hm. I would have understood.

[It wasn't his fault, but at the same time, he does feel some responsibility. His connection to Loki made Loki vulnerable. He might not have been injured, if not for that.

He'd like to fix it. Loki didn't allow him to suffer a lesser injury alone. But all he manages is a faint green glow, the weakest of healing spells.]

I know. But I meant what I said. And I chose to do that because . . . I couldn't bear it.

[ the pressure in his chest eases at least and loki sighs. ]

I know your relationship with your brother is complicated. I can't speak to what you do to maintain it.
