[ Loki had taken a shuttle earlier. To scout other planets. Loki isn't going back to Earth unless he can help it. Thanos will be coming for those stones and he plans on being as far away from that as possible. And if he could do the same with Thor and the rest of Asgard — that would be one fatal problem solved.
( not if Thanos crushes them all into dust )
He kicks the dirt in a huff before noticing a stranger wandering the ruined landscape. As he squints, the visage of the man looks more and more familiar to him. ]
[Slowly closing the communicator, he closes his eyes and lets out a slow exhale of a sigh. No point calling pointlessly into it when he can tell easily that there is no connection at all. Sliding it back into his belt, he reaches for his tricorder instead.
May as well learn a little about his surroundings...
Or, he might've if the sound of something skittering across the floor hadn't pulled his attention immediately to a rather tall figure walking toward him. Taking one step back, it made him turn to face the other and well, that one word just pulls a confused look across his lips and furrows his brow.]
Scourge? That's a bit hasty to be throwin' at people you don't know. [He doesn't like weapons. He doesn't like conflict to be honest. Which was why it's not exactly his first nature to pull his phaser as he looks at the stranger. Was that someone's name? The hell kinda name was that, anyhow? God help that person.]
[ Loki eyes the man openly, scanning him from head to toe with sharp green eyes. Not Skurge, clearly, though the similarities were disorienting. Skurge, at least, was no threat to Loki, whatever form he may take. ]
Skurge. My . . . minion, so to speak. But it is clear you are not him.
The hell kinda name is that. [Huffing the question under his breath, he lifted a hand to run through his hair in irritation.] Name's McCoy. Dr. Leonard McCoy.
[Glancing at the other man, he got the distinct impression from even the way he held himself that this guy likely would be as forthcomin' as a rock. Though he could be wrong. Maybe the guy was just confusing him with this other guy.] Minion, huh? That make you some sort of ruler?
[He can almost hear Spock chastising him in the back of his mind for poor diplomacy, but he's a goddamn doctor. Not some ambassador or politician.]
[It matters only if he's worried about screwin' up some sort of peaceful talks between the federation and wherever this guy is from. But then, he knows that name. Heard it in stories from an old dusty library where the librarian liked to tell about old myths and legends. And if walkin' through some damn portal isn't bad enough, the idea of walkin' into a myth or legend is slightly unnerving.
But as he looks around him, he quickly realizes one off detail. This was not some ancient version of earth. This was a very modern landscape even if it was scuffed and bruised.] Asgard... as in one of the nine realms of that tree? [He waves a hand trying to remember the name and finally puts his finger on it.] Yggdrasil?
[It's enough to distract him from the next answer as he rubs at his temples in something close to frustration.] Told Jim playin' with rift anomalies was a bad idea. Damn rabbit hole I just fell down.
[ Loki nods absently. What mortals know of the old stories means little. He watches the man before putting away some of his trepidation. He doubts any person who is merely aware of the myths is much of a threat to him. ]
I do not see any rabbits, but meddling with rift energies should be beyond mortals. Is that how you came to be here?
Figure of speech.. [He waves off the rabbit comment then lets out a gusty sigh.] Yeah... somethin' like that.
[Running a hand through his hair, he let out a soft breath before pinching the bridge of his nose.] Seems I fell through while we were investigating... So, any idea where here is?

I was the king of Asgard for a time. Does it matter?
And why would a doctor reside so far away from . . . civilisation?

[ Loki bends to pick up a piece of scrap metal, turning it over in his hands. ]
I can leave easily. But how do you plan on doing it?
