[ He can tell it doesn't exactly please Loki that Thor puts in so many hours. And it's understandable. It would be preferable to have him home, but at least they have each other. He gets up so he can loop an arm around Loki's shoulders, giving him a reassuring half-hug. Affectionate in a way he wouldn't dare to be outside of this delusion -- like a true son. ]

He'll be rewarded for all of his effort. Barbas is good to us.

So, um. Last night at Mammon's ball, I finally proposed to Ava.

[ Finally, he says. Because in his mind, they had been dating for years. ]

And she said yes. We don't plan to be wed until after graduation. Probably like a year after graduation. I wanna save up some money first, and she wants to travel hell -- see the sights, all the fire and brimstone and desolation. But hey, I hear that hotel has an indoor swimming pool.

[ loki rolls his eyes, though there's no rancour in it. ]

There's no shame in slowing down. It took your father some time to come to term with his feelings. But it worked out.

I know.

[ There's a smile on his face because his parents love story is really his favorite love story. The model by which to base all love stories! ]

And if it was just up to me, I would slow down a little. Build the sort of reputation Father has first before marrying her.

[ He shakes his head, lamenting. ]

But I can't afford to be selfish when Barbas has given us everything we could ever want. And that means not wasting time building a family of my own. Think he'll at least give Dad the day off from work for the wedding?

[ Two sides war with each other with Loki's words and Tech looks down at his hands on his lap. Why does it keep feeling like there's something he's forgetting? ]

How was your wedding when you and Dad got married?

It was a very private ceremony. It took me ages to convince your father to marry me, after all, but he finally committed. We did a handfasting.
