Sif? Sif was the worst of the lot. You weren't there, Thor but I can assure you, all Sif ever saw in me was a power-hungry mongrel.

[ it feels so petty to bring up such things, but loki has never liked the warriors three, much less sif of all people. instead he crosses his arms, willing his old anger to ebb away. ]

[ loki hisses. he wants to shake the man. he wants to cry. either way, his shoulders hunch, defensive. ]

Stop apologizing. I don't want you to take responsibility for all my hurts or even the past. I made my choices! I do not need your absolution, Thor!

My choice was to make sure you kept on living, not that you had to harbor all the guilt.

[And what if I need absolution for apparently hurting my baby brother? , Thor thinks, but doesn't say aloud, after all. There's no absolution to be given, one can only live with it, till death.]

[Without warning, he places his hand on Loki's chest. Mhm, it's not as cold as it was, though Loki's never felt warm in his life, anyway, though Thor now knows why, but as a small child he'd often ask Loki if he's dying, because of some cold feeling emanating from the brother. But now he knows, so this, he knows to be 'warmth' when it comes to Loki. Though it's probably weird to keep his hand on the other's chest.]

[Thor smiles a little.]

[ those very words make him sag a little in relief. good. good. if thor was still himself, if thor could keep going, then the world where he lives is better. worth believing in. that's what loki has always believed. thor will win. a world doesn't need a loki, but it will always need a thor. ]
