Thor, enough of that. You know I do not hold it against you.

That's not whay you've said when you so rudely tried to provoke me into actually fighting you, on the Bridge. Just seven years ago, and you speak as if a century has passed, for you to hold nothing against me anymore.

[Thor shakes his head.]

I don't understand you, Brother. But I, I'm glad to have you. Don't ever doubt that. I don't know much about forgiveness, to be honest. But - thank you.

[He grins now, and grabs Loki's shoulder, giving it a solid shake, possibly dizzying shake.]

[ it feels like a century. and though loki tends to shore up on grudges, he didn't want his entire life to be devoted to this cycle. he's seen what it did to hela. why would he resign himself to the same fate? ]

You're still so sentimental, Thor.

"And you, so repetitive," Thor jokes. "That's what you've said in New York. Or something like that, I don't know exactly. Surely you don't think I don't remember."

[ loki pinches thor's shoulder. ]

Your memory does tend to fail you, brother.

[Thor ponders for maybe half a second]

But you've said I'm too sentimental. In New York, when I tried to appeal to reason. Haven't you?

[ loki snorts. ]

Reason had little to do with why I was there.

[Thor nods, not sure if he fully comprehends those events, even now. He does from his own perspective - baffling one - but as for Loki's, he can barely imagine.]

And so, you've destroyed your millenial track record of being the reasonable brother. I guess now we're equal.

[ his lips quirk. ]

So it seems. I suppose I cannot complain.

Neither can I. For a thousand years, I had to put up with a younger brother more clever and more talented than I could ever hope to be.

Ah. I guess I was unreasonable about that, sometimes. But only a little!

[Thor chuckles.]

I don't see why you would complain. Asgard certainly did not care for my cleverness or talents. Only your brute strength.

[He shrugs.] Asgard is Asgard.

[ he snorts. ]

[ he blinks, squinting at thor. ]

Ah, yes, nothing says harmless than you and all your friends picking on me. What an enjoyable time that was.

Are you saying that Volstagg and Fandral were a bit much? Well. My apologies. At least you have nothing to complain about when it comes to Lady Sif, she's always perfectly polite.

Sif? Sif was the worst of the lot. You weren't there, Thor but I can assure you, all Sif ever saw in me was a power-hungry mongrel.

[ it feels so petty to bring up such things, but loki has never liked the warriors three, much less sif of all people. instead he crosses his arms, willing his old anger to ebb away. ]

Never you mind. It is in the past. But they were your friends, Thor. Not mine.

They were our friends, Loki. How can you say something like that?

I know, it's my fault for not reigning them in a little. But, Loki, you never complained back then, so I had no idea about...

[Thor sighs and puts his hand on Loki's shoulder.] To me, you've always been so strong, so stubborn, so determined, and unyielding, if a bit worse at fighting... I was glad for that. I was lucky to have you at my side and I-- I had no idea about your feelings.

Hmm. That sounds a bit bad, doesn't it? Huh. Maybe. Only a little. I was just a bit blinded to any of my shortcomings, because... I guess because of my arrogance. Is that it? Or my selfishness. If my love be too selfish, I'm sorry. You've always had a bigger picture, I suppose.

I admire that. But I, I can't. I don't know how. I'm sorry, I'm speaking nonsense.

[He looks down.]

[ loki hisses. he wants to shake the man. he wants to cry. either way, his shoulders hunch, defensive. ]

Stop apologizing. I don't want you to take responsibility for all my hurts or even the past. I made my choices! I do not need your absolution, Thor!

My choice was to make sure you kept on living, not that you had to harbor all the guilt.
