At least, it isn't supposed to be the most exciting place around. Stefan likes ducking in and browsing the shelves for something he hasn't read before - knowledge is power, and honestly, sometimes a good book takes his mind off his troubles. But there's a guy in the nonfiction aisle; someone he's never seen before, and Stefan's been here long enough to know he's new.
He pauses, weighing his options. He could wait, let this guy get his book, and move later. Or he could interrupt.

Well, time and tide wait for no man, especially no vampire, so Stefan decides on the latter. ]
Um, excuse me. [ He gestures towards the shelf behind the stranger. ] I was just gonna nab the book behind you?
[ Coming back to Earth was the worst. But they had resources Loki could use, at least. While he is more than proficient in using their computers and other primitive technology, Loki still prefers the library. At the very least, it provides a convenient excuse to get away from Thor's overwhelming need to micromanage everything.
Loki's cool green eyes rove over the stranger before stepping back. ]
It's for a class. [ It isn't, but Stefan's grown used to lying like he breathes. He's just the kind of person to keep up with Stuff - and okay, maybe he's heard good things about "Unfair: the Science of Criminal Justice." ] Or, you know, maybe some of us just like reading this kind of stuff in our spare time.
[ huh. Either this guy's been living under a rock and he genuinely doesn't know, or he's calling Stefan's bluff. He'll go with the former for now. ]
Uh, a family that's known for being famous. I think their dad was OJ Simpson's lawyer? [ he shrugs, ] I don't even know that much, but they're all over the media.
Yeah, well - [ all pretense of sarcasm goes out the window when he hears Midgard. Stefan raises both eyebrows, ] "Midgard?" Is that what we're calling Earth now?
